THE BLANKET PROJECT | BEHIND THE SCENES FOOTAGE

DONATE TODAY http://www.gofundme.com/mze1o8 At UooLike we like to support good causes. Our first project is The Blanket Project supporting homelessness. We aim to raise 500 pounds to buy 100 blankets that will be distributed around London to rough sleepers.

Band – The Thirst

Take a peak at the behind the scenes footage of the Blanket Project campaign video. It was very challenging at times as we were filming with real people sleeping rough around Central London.

At UooLike we like to support good causes. Our first project is The Blanket Project supporting homelessness. We aim to raise 500 pounds to buy 100 blankets that will be distributed around London to rough sleepers.

Once we have reached target we will distribute the sleeping bags around London documenting the whole process so everyone can see how their donations are being used and have made a difference. Remember every little counts!

This was filmed with real people sleeping rough around central London. The script has been compiled with stories of rough sleepers in the UK.

PALESTINE ON THE THAMES: NAKBA IN MY PRESENT

At UooLike, we believe in equality and freedom of expression. We went down to film this event on Nakba Day to find out what Nakba is and about its significance individually and globally for Palestinians. The two day festival of cultural affirmation marked the anniversary of Nakba. The event was hosted by Uthink PDP charity in association with organisers Ashaam at the Riverside Building in
Hammersmith London.

An exhibition of all things Palestinian, the event was successful in raising awareness for Palestine and its people through talks, debates and exhibitions of traditional Palestinian clothing, art, embroidery, jewellery, literature, food and art.

MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU – BODY PAINTING PARTY

“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..”

Well, almost!

UooLike went to meet Uthink PDP at their amazing exhibition and studio space in Hammersmith at the weekend for a unique party in anticipation of May 4th – the annual Star Wars celebration day.

Check out our fun feature of the event where artists and creatives involved with Uthink combined their passion for art with their passion for film and brought it to life with … yes … BODY ART! (painting, not tattoos, although that would’ve been cool)

See the incredible results of the Star Wars themed day here and hear about body art and what those involved had to say about the experience!

N’DA DANCE COMPANY LAUNCH

Where there are people and where there is passion – UooLike is there at the forefront.

The official launch of Mbulelo Ndabeni N’da Dance Company was no exception, and not only did we witness the performance to a sold out audience at East London’s Rich Mix, but we were given exclusive access to rehearsals and the creative process in the lead up to this unique event which expressed philosophy and physicality with a sonic backdrop to an engrossed and emotionally stimulated audience.

At UooLike we aim to encourage self-expression and passion so with N’da Dance Company’s conscious and truthful addressing of concepts it only seemed right that we should showcase this interdisciplinary collaboration of dancers, composers, percussionists, professional mentorship and clinical psychology by adding another dimension through the medium of film (See video for full list of credits).

Our short documentary highlights the mesmerising talent and drive of it’s founder and artistic director Mbulelo Ndabeni who is also the authority at every point of the company from dance and choreography to production.

The N’da Dance Company launch involved three pieces – ‘NaY Triple bill’ Solo MatteriBali and NaY – Nam and You. Mbulelo Ndabeni explains the title in his engaging interview and we come to have some understanding of some of the conceptual seeds and themes explored in the pieces such as our own and other’s perceptions of identity.

A predominantly female cast and crew, all three works pay homage to women and girls worldwide. This spirit of reverence is invoked not only by the intent behind the pieces and movement but by the use of djembe drumming by all-female Yemalla drummers which traditionally has many connotations of worship and ceremony.

The powerful and moving performance of the three pieces began with a warming curtain opener by young performers from Artistry Youth Dance and AkomaAsa drummers and was representative of N’da Dance Company’s embracing attitude towards opportunity for expression of the younger generation. Ndabeni shows us through this, his own optimism, hope for the future and the value of investing in it right now.
